5 skincare do’s for mature skin

Image Of A Mature Lady

Whatever your age, a good skincare regimen is a must. But, as we get older, our skincare needs change and, as such, our regimens must too.

Here are our top 5 do’s when it comes to mature skin and skincare:

  • Wear sunblock – with at least a 30 SPF

This has to be at the top of the list as it is so important whatever your age and wherever you live. Even on those cloudy days, the UV index can be higher than you expect. And sun damage can lead to a whole host of serious skin issues, like cancer, to less serious ones like fine lines and wrinkles. Mature skin also suffers under the sun because the UV rays break down collagen, leading to thinner skin and they cause pigmentation patches to develop. So, before you step outside – apply, apply and reapply all day!

  • Cleanse well

Wiping off the pollution and dirt of the day is essential in any skincare regimen, for different reasons at different stages of your life. If you have mature skin that often feels tight and dry, the right cleanser will help to lock in moisture whilst maintaining your skin’s natural Ph levels. Use our Natural Makeup Remover and Cleanser to do the job well.

  • Exfoliate

As we age skin may start to appear duller than before because dead skin cells aren’t replaced as quickly. Exfoliants are a good way of getting rid of those dead skin cells – leaving you with a brighter, younger-looking glow. However, it’s important to note that you shouldn’t choose an exfoliant that’s too harsh on the skin. A gentle exfoliant will do the job, like a textured washcloth or sponge.

  • Moisturise

Day to day you’re exposed to the drying effects of the sun, the pool, air-conditioned or heated spaces, and your skin is stripped of its natural moisture. As you age, you may notice that your skin becomes drier far more quickly due to the slowing down of oil production. Ensure this moisture is replaced – and don’t forget the décolletage. Apply your moisturiser in soft, gentle upwards strokes or pats – defy gravity, as it were!

Used as part of your evening ritual, our Frankincense Face Oil not only adds the much-needed moisture to your face and neck but calms, relaxes, and eases the mind too. Added to this, our Natural Body Butter, made from organic shea butter, is gentle enough to be used on the body and face.

  • Stay in shape and eat well

You may not immediately associate exercise and eating with skincare, but internal and external health are closely linked. Getting the right nutrients into your body and ensuring your blood is pumping around your body as best it can both contribute to skin health. If you haven’t exercised for years, don’t despair – start by getting in two 15 to 20-minute walks, rides on a stationary bike, or swims a week and take it from there! And don’t forget the greens on your plate!

And there you have it – our top 5 skincare do’s for mature skin.

Of course, aging is inevitable and we embrace the beauty that comes with those fine lines and wrinkles – they tell stories about all of the adventures you’ve had. However, it’s always good to care for your skin, so that it’s in its best condition for all the adventures to come!
